Cycle & Scooter Parking
One of the objectives of the Safe Routes to School programme is to expand the amount of bicycle and scooter parking available at schools. Providing cycle and scooter parking is instrumental to making the option of travelling actively to school possible. One third of parents surveyed as part of Round 1 and Round 2 of the programme said that cycle and scooter parking at school would encourage them to cycle and scoot to school.
Since the commencement of the SRTS programme in 2021, SRTS has delivered cycle parking to 589 schools and scooter parking to 89 schools. The delivery of cycle and scooter parking by the SRTS programme runs on an annual basis with schools invited to apply in the Autumn each year and the cycle and parking installed during the summer months.
